ABOUT

My work combines mixed media art and printmaking techniques that use a series of layers and occasionally, photography to build up an image. I'm intrigued by the the idea that layers found in shadows, surfaces, water or reflections can be translated physically or metaphorically. Allowing me to interpret ideas using nature as a metaphor.

Travel and exploration inspire my experimental approach. My fascination with discovery has led me to explore the interactions between various materials and spontaneous processes that echo nature’s evolving character. Elements that evolve naturally in response to timing, conditions and reactions, and which then inform my work processes. This interaction challenges me to understand my relationship with nature. Using textural and immersive processes to promote a sense of connection for me.

Since completing a BA(Hons) 1st Class Degree in Design at Wrexham University of Wales in 2001 I have worked on various creative projects. Previously exhibiting and selling artworks and facilitating a small variety of creative workshops for colleges. More recently finding the opportunity to develop work from my home studio, which is where I find most of my inspiration. Along the hiking trails of the mountains, woodlands and coastal areas of North Wales.
